Anne Commenator, 76, of Derry, NH, passed suddenly on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 3, 1946, in Riverside, CA, the daughter of the late Walter and Louise (Van Evera) Strachan. She had been a resident of Derry for the past 37 years, formerly living in Candia, NH.
A highly energetic woman, Anne was working full-time as a territory manager for Acosta Sales & Marketing into her last days. She had a deep love for animals especially, her cherished Max. Some of Anne’s favorite activities were tending to her garden and the backyard wildlife (except the groundhog). She loved to travel, most memorably her solo excursion to Greece. Anne embraced and appreciated all cultures through food, history, art, and architecture - which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Anne had a quirky personality and expressed it through her unique sense of fashion and home décor. Never shy to voice her opinions, she stood firm in her beliefs.
Anne loved to be surrounded by her family, most of all her seven “grandchillin’s”. Before her passing, she was married for 30 years to her devoted late husband George. Before meeting George, she was a single mother of three who worked full time which speaks to her fierce independence and strong will.
She is survived by her son, Michael A. Commenator of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Michele A. Delligatti and her husband Michael of Galena, OH, and Yvonne M. Marston and her husband Paul, Sr. of Rye, NH; her beloved grandchildren, Trevor, Emma and Ryker Commenator, Lauren and Jack Delligatti, Charlotte, and Paul Marston Jr. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. George Commenator in 2005, and her brother, James Strachan.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Friday, April 28th from 5 – 7 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Derry Humane Society. www.derryhumanesociety.com .
