Worcester: Flora Mae (Hakala) "Fluffy" Kennedy, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023 in Knollwood Nursing Center. She leaves a daughter Georgiana "Gigi" Zepp and her husband Richard of Northbridge; 2 sons- Dana Adams and his wife Laurie of Vermont and Kenneth Adams and his wife Cheryl of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren: 15 great grandchildren; a recently welcomed great-great grandson; a sister Sally Hansen of Maine; a sister in law Joyce Fuller of Worcester; several nieces and nephews and some very close friends. Her husband Owen Kennedy and a brother Augustus Hakala predeceased her.
Flora was born in Holden, daughter of the late Augustus and Annie (Bryant) Hakala. She graduated from North High School and spent most of her life in Boylston. She worked as an accounting discrepancy specialist for REFCO Inc. in Boylston for many years. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Boylston, was an avid golfer, a great cook, an incredible gardener, and enjoyed the Celtics and Red Sox. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at Moosehead Lake in Maine.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in First Congregational Church in Boylston. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private at a later date. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
