Maria (Garcia) Escobar, 86, of Rochester died August 11, 2002 at Nichols House Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Manuel R. Escobar and the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Souza) Garcia.
Mrs. Escobar was born in Fayal, Azores, and had resided in Rochester with her husband since 1959.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Rochester.
Survivors include her husband; 3 daughters, Maria Escobar of New Westminister, British Columbia, and Maria Barrow and Laura Hergenhan, and her husband John, all of Fairhaven; 5 grandchildren, Elvis Dutra, William Mitchell, Elizabeth Tamulevich, Cari Hergenhan and John C. Hergenhan; 2 great-grandsons, Jared Dutra and Connor Dutra; and several nieces and nephews.
