Joan E. (Viens) Greene, 88, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, March 18th at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves four daughters, Robin Greene-Baillargeon and her partner, Robert Mann of Worcester, Sharon Balcom and her husband, William of Westborough, Sandra DeRenzis and her husband, Charles of PA, and Sherry Mercier and her husband, Frank of Worcester; a son Richard Greene and his wife, Jodi of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend, Helen Puza-Jakhstis; and her two cats, Oskar and Sulfur. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert R. “Chubby” Greene in 1996; her brother, Richard Viens; and her sister, Eleanor Brady.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Arthur Leo and Johanna (Kiegas) Viens. Joan worked at many credit unions in the greater Worcester area and retired as the Assistant Vice President in 1997 after 50 years of employment within the industry. Joan was an avid sports fan, watching the Red Sox play was a favorite of hers. She also enjoyed bowling as she was involved with leagues, most commonly at Colonial Bowl. Family was everything to her, spending time together was the most important, whether it was birthdays or dance recitals, Joan was there and included all. Joan was also very proud of her Victory Garden that she started when she was a little girl. She was very loved and will be missed.
Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 22nd at 4:00 pm at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4:30 pm until 7:00pm. Burial will be private.
