CASEY, JEAN HENRY
Formerly of West Newton and Wellesley, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 18, 2023. Born in Boston, MA, Jean was an avid painter, cook and volunteer for numerous organizations. Throughout her life, she was known for her sense of style and graceful manner.
Jean’s most cherished role was as wife to the late Thomas W. Casey, mother to her seven children and grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. For almost 100 years, Jean was sustained by her unwavering faith and the heartfelt devotion of her family.
In 1958, Jean founded The Guild of The Holy Spirit, beginning a lifelong relationship with the Jesuit community of Boston College. A Lenten lecture series for women, the Guild honored Jean in 2018 for almost 60 years of service.
Whether serving as a volunteer driver for women undergoing breast cancer treatment, or managing a holiday showhouse to benefit the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center for Children, Jean always found time to work on behalf of those who were less fortunate.
Jean was the loving mother of Margo Casey of Newburyport; Pam McCormick and her husband Harold of Wellesley; Thomas W. Casey Jr and his wife Maura of Needham; Georgia Jenkins and her husband Douglas of Natick; Sheila Christensen and her husband John of Rumford RI, Robert Casey and his wife Lauren of Winston Salem NC and the late John Forrest Casey.
The Casey family wishes to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Pines Edge Health Center at North Hill all of whom were instrumental in creating a kind, nurturing, environment for Jean.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Saint Paul's Catholic Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
