John Norman “Normie” Fahey, age 76, of Middleborough, MA died on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. John was the beloved husband for 56 years of Maureen (McMenamy) Fahey. Born in Brockton, MA, he was the son of the late John Norman and Jeannette L. (Tribou) Fahey.
After attending Brockton High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of sergeant as a Military Police officer stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. After his military service, he joined the Carpenters Union Local 624. Later, John was employed by IBM for 27 years as a Customer Engineer fixing typewriters, printers, ATMs and cash registers in and around Boston, Cambridge, and southeastern Massachusetts. Finally, before he retired, he worked for Brinks for 10 years as an armed guard driver.
John was a lifelong member of the Club National Franco American Club of Brockton. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family at cookouts at the pool, holidays, birthdays and family get togethers. He loved sci fi themed TV and movies, carpentry and mechanical projects and his dogs.
John was the devoted father of three children: Sarah (Fahey) Gori and her fiancé James Kurey of Brockton, Sean Fahey and his wife Michelle of East Freetown, and Jennifer (Fahey) Bernier and her husband Jason of Somerset. John was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren: Liam Fahey, Michael Kurey, Ethan Fahey, Aidan Bernier, Sophia Gori, Julia Bernier and AJ Gori. He was the brother to three surviving siblings: Jayne Fahey of New York, NY; Glenn Fahey of Marshfield, MA and Gerry Fahey of New York, NY.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Monday, March 20 from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, March 21, at 11am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
