David Handy Babb

David Handy Babb of Chesterfield, IN, passed away Monday, March 13th, 2023. Born in Anderson on September 2, 1955, to Dwight “Leo” and Virginia (Handy) Babb.
He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard. He served as Commander of the 138th Signal Battalion in the Indiana National Guard and retired as Lt. Colonel after serving for 32 years. He received many awards and decorations during his service, including a Bronze Star, a Combat Action Badge during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and many others throughout his career.
Dave also had more than 40 years of experience working in high-end concrete designs, stones, bricks, tiles, and more.
Dave enjoyed fishing and country drives with his family and kids. He was known for his kindness and many acts of service throughout his community.
He is survived by his wife, Denisa (Taylor); sons, Jason (Shyanne) Scharnowske of Anderson, IN, Christopher (Beatrice) Babb of Elgin, OK , Kyle Babb of Chesterfield, IN; daughters, Jessica Scharnowske of Anderson, IN, Nadine (David Streeter) Babb of Havre de Grace, MD, Kaitlyn Babb of Chesterfield; his mother Virginia of Anderson; siblings, Reah Hall of Sarasota, FL, Mary Babb of Indianapolis, Anne Babb Albea of Anderson, and Jaime (David Pennington) Babb of San Fransisco, CA; grandchildren, Justyn, Austin, Ethyn, Dathyn, Jaedan, Nathaniel, Noel, Octavio, Ilario, Jeremyah, Collin; great-grandchildren; Prestyn, Shylee, Camdyn, Rosalee, Ophelia. He is preceded in death by his father Leo, paternal grandparents Dwight and Irene, and maternal grandparents Clarence and RoseMarie Handy.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital.
