Leah Clark, 58, passed away suddenly during a heart operation on February 28th, 2023. She was a lifelong Ojai resident who was very involved with the community, as well as a loved and valued staff member at Nordhoff High School. She worked in the Ojai Unified School District for over 24 years and was treasured by her students. Each student of Ms. Clark’s made a difference in her life and she felt as if they were one of her own.
Leah was the most creative woman you could ever encounter. Whether it was creating musical costumes out of recycling, or making her own wrapping paper and cards for every gift she ever gave, she saw the beauty and purpose in everything.
Leah loved anything outdoors and was a rare gem that could go from working in her yard and camping, to going to a ball or costume party and be ready to look the part in a flash. She always felt the most at peace when she was able to be outdoors with the ones she loved most.
Leah is survived by her son Matthew Clark and Fiancé Alex Reyes, her daughter Kaylyn Burris and husband Kenton Burris and their children Adeline and Maybelle Burris. Leah was counting the days to meet her soon-to-be newest grandchild, who will be born in June. Her boyfriend, Todd Bennaton, was the only man that could complete and enrich her life and was fortunate enough to know and love her until the end of her days. She loved and adored her family, friends, and community and her bright bubbly spirit with her fiery red hair will be missed by many.
A memorial for Leah Clark will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
