Obituary

David Theodore Haskell passed away on March 8, 2023 at LGH surrounded by his loved ones. David was born in Woburn, MA on July 13, 1950 to parents Marjorie (Manley) and David Theodore Haskell. A long time Tewksbury resident, David graduated from Keith Academy in 1968. After a short stint at college, he started his own concrete foundation business, he was a master finish carpenter and general contractor.

He enjoyed keeping his own schedule to allow time to enjoy life: playing basketball, cards, fishing, bowling, skiing, coaching Little League, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Golf was a life-long obsession for David, he was a scratch golfer for most of his life. He enjoyed playing with his sons including their special annual July Birthday outing. He was a one-time club champion at Hickory Hill in Methuen, MA. Just last year he and his son Brian won the Father/Son golf tournament at Farmington Country Club, the last of many they participated in. He enjoyed playing in his sister Nancy’s golf league regularly and quickly became a favorite to all.

He was a well-read passionate citizen of the world, his sincere generosity was enjoyed by many. In retirement, he took on jobs doing census reporting and driving a school van.

David was married to the love of his life, his wife Christine (Gaspar) for 40 years. He is survived by his sisters’ Elaine Lekas, Nancy Haskell and her partner Kate, brother-in-law Stephen Gaspar and sister-in-law Patrice Gaspar, his children, daughter Christine, son Brian and wife Jenn, and son Ben. Grandchildren Doug, Jaylene, Natalie, Nevaeh, Rory, Finn and “number 7” Mick, as well as niece Maria and husband Jim and nephew Ted and Heather. He is also survived by many close cousins, who growing up were partners in crime. He also had several close friends who endearingly visited him in the hospital during his stay. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring.
