Mazie Davis Reeves, 85, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Monday, March 13, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Irwinville Baptist Church, in Irwinville, Georgia, with the Rev. Sonny Pate and the Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery, with the Rev. Russell Whitehurst officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from, 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Reeves was born September 8, 1937, in Irwinville, Georgia, to the late Clarence and Evelyn Elizabeth Dix Davis. She was a 1955 graduate of Irwin County High School. Mrs. Reeves was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed working in her ceramic shop and florist, baking wedding cakes for her catering business. Mrs. Reeves retired at the age of 81 from Tift Regional Medical Center as a Pink Lady and manager of the gift shop. She dedicated many years of service at Irwinville Baptist church, where she was a member, the organist, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, training union and helped with Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her children: Darlene & Jim Clees of St. Petersburg, Florida, Sherry King of Irwinville and Randy & Lori Reeves of Irwinville; grandchildren: Miranda & Greg Potter, Lori & David Simpson, Ryan King, Karlee King, Jennifer Clees and Sarah Clees; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Simpson, Dominic Potter, and Dean Potter; two brothers: Dalton & Robyn Davis of Macon, Wayne & Kathryn Davis of Wellford, South Carolina; and a sister, Teresa & Michael Stokes of Kingsland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Reeves; a son-in-law, Reggie King and a sister, Genora Godwin.
