Wayne D. Martin Sr, 68 of Victoria Drive, Smithfield, died Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Linda (Inglesi) Martin for 48 years.
Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late William D. Martin and the late Annette (Lizotte) Desrosiers. He had lived in Smithfield for the past five years. He previously lived in Glocester.
Wayne was the proud owner of Pools Plus Inc in Johnston for over 25 years, until his retirement in 2013. His love for comics inspired him to open Wayne’s Cards and Comics. This collectible and hobby shop allowed Wayne to live out his passion every day and influenced future collectors.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Kelley Martin-Thoma of Attleboro, MA and Wayne D. Martin Jr and his wife, Tiffany of Smithfield, his grandson: Riley Thoma, granddaughters: Madison and Juliana Martin, his siblings: Andre Desrosiers and his wife, Roslyn of Coventry and Debra McLaughlin and her husband, Robert of Scituate and his sister-in-law, Noreen Inglesi of Warwick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the stepson of the late Julien Desrosiers and son-in-law of the late Anthony and Mary Inglesi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Autism Speaks or American Kidney Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
