Norman Daniel Bergman (Norm) passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023, in Ventura, California. Norman was 80. He was born in Denison, Iowa on December 27, 1942, to Muriel and Floyd Bergman.
Norman left Iowa for California as a young man. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He eventually became the Chief Financial Officer of Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs, and later, the Chief Financial Officer of Ventura Community Hospital in Ventura.
Norman also served in the US Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.
Norman loved living near the ocean and spent many hours walking and running along the beaches of Ventura. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting old friends and family.
Norman is survived by his three sisters: Adrienne Ang of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; Emily Bergman of Algona, Iowa; and Beverly Einspahr of Odebolt, Iowa. Norman is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews, all who love him dearly.
Everyone who knew Norman loved him. He was, quite simply, a good person. Extremely kind, generous and light-hearted, he was a true friend and a favorite Uncle.
A private “Celebration of Life” ceremony will take place in Ventura on April 1, 2023. His burial will take place in Iowa in June.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s honor may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Association, or AFTD – The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
