Linda M. (Varney) Rego, 75, of Fairhaven died March 8, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was the former wife of the late Richard Rego.
Born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Jane (Henrickson) Beauparland and Walter Varney, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life.
Linda was formerly employed by the Center for Health and Human Services, and the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
Linda was gentle, kind, and infinitely compassionate. She dedicated her life to helping others. Her home was always open to family and friends. She loved animals and for years volunteered at an animal rescue organization. Soon after her retirement, she became a Nana and dedicated her days to teaching and playing with her grandchildren. She taught them to bake, paint, ride bikes, sing, dance, and do science experiments. Linda was a caretaker, peacemaker and avid reader.
Survivors include her daughter, Wendy Pacheco and her husband Michael of Fairhaven; her son, John Rego of Fairhaven; 2 brothers, Steven King of Hopkington and Ernest "Butch" Beauparland of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Barbara Smith of East Providence and Elaine Beauparland of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Madison Dlouhy, Hannah Pacheco and Colin Pacheco; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Patricia Costa.
Her visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 17th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 18th at 10 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
