Mark E. Finni, Jr., 41, of New Bedford passed away on Sunday March 5, 2023.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Mark E. and Donna L. (Vera) Finni, he lived in New Bedford all of his life. He was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School and St. Anselm's College in New Hampshire.
Mark served in the U.S Coast Guard Reserves for many years and was activated for two deployments. He was a member of Coast Guard Port Security Unit 301 and served in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom and later at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
He enjoyed kayaking, running, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great party planner, and was especially known for his pirate parties.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Donna; his uncle, Paul Finni; his aunt, Denise Finni; his great-aunt, Becky Ambadgis; his "adopted" niece and nephew, Myka and James; and his devoted dogs, Cinnabon and Mittens and his beloved cat, Professor Whiskas.
He was the grandson of the late Frank and Doris Vera and Frank and Claire Finni, and nephew of the late Thomas Vera.
His visitation will be held on Sunday March 12th from 4- 8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with a prayer service being held at 6:30 PM. Cremation will follow and burial with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
