Our much-loved husband, father, and grandfather (Papa), DENNIS JON BEARDSLEY, 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Ventura, CA, with family by his side. He was born in Seattle, WA, to father Kenneth Robert Beardsley and mother Dorothy Gegenheimer Beardsley on November 13, 1943. He graduated from Hueneme High School in 1962 and attended Ventura College. He went on to earn a Certificate in Purchasing through the UCLA Extension Program.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 through 1967 and was stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He loved playing tennis for over 30 years and participated in USTA tournaments in both singles and doubles. Throughout his active life, he also enjoyed downhill skiing and playing pool and ping pong. His favorite music genres were swing, blues, and rock. He and Adele took swing dance lessons and had a wonderful time dancing together.
He was an avid classic car enthusiast and proud owner of many collector cars over the years.
He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Adele Anne Beardsley, his adoring family, which includes daughter Kellie Denise Lambert, and husband, Steven Gerald Lambert; and grandsons Hudson Douglas Lambert and Carter Steven Lambert, all of Orange, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert Thomas Beardsley, Kenneth George (Mick) Beardsley, and Gary Dell Beardsley.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his healthcare providers, Dr. Thomas Fogel, Dr. Joshua Rosenberg, Dr. Benito Pedraza, Dr. Abigail Frochtzwajg, and Dr. Alex Mizrahi, for their ongoing care, both medically and personally. And also to the staff at Community Memorial Hospital, who attended him through his last days.
Dennis was an amazingly brave warrior, overcoming several bouts of cancer and arduous treatment regimens before finally succumbing to a lung infection. His greatest joy through this journey was time spent with his family and friends.
A celebration of Dennis' life will be announced in the coming weeks. Private arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
