Janet Kimball Leonard passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, surrounded by her family at the age of 95. Born to the late Janet (Padien) and William S. Gall in 1927. Janet grew up in Drummondville, Canada, and came to the states to attend The Edgewood Park School, in Briarcliff Manor, NY. She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston and later taught in the Newton Public Schools and at Tenacre Day School in Wellesley.
She was married to her beloved Jay for 20 years, and they raised their children in Wellesley. Jay left this world much too young and Janet found herself navigating a new life without him by her side. Her resilience, Catholic faith, devoted family and countless number of supportive loving friends, helped her bravely forge her new path. She was fortunate to find love again and become a second loving mother and grandmother to many. She spent 25 years in Nashua, NH where she became a loving part of the Leonard family. Sharing in the lives of everyone gave Mimi great joy and purpose. She made all those around her feel special, and it was never about her. Mimi, enjoyed good conversation and good humor. She loved to laugh. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader - books were a passion.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Yacobian, her husband Buz, and her children, Robin and Paige; Susan Kimball Hill, her husband Eric and their children, Ali and Ryan; John Kimball, his wife Heidi, and their sons Jack and Will; her daughter Anne Kimball Nolen, and her children, Carly, Meg and Jay. She is also survived by her sister Mary Horsley, her brother Peter Gall and his wife Barbara, her sister in-law Claire Gall and by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre Street, Dover, MA on Wednesday, March 15, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made in Janet's memory to MSPCA, Angell, Boston, MA for her love of dogs, or the charity of your choice.
