Richard P. "Richie" Kennedy, a 32 year resident of Everett and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his home in Everett. He was 86 years of age.
Richie was born in Everett on April 6, 1936, a son of the late John J. Kennedy and Florence (George) Kennedy. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Richie enlisted into United States Army on September 7, 1954 and served his country with honor and courage during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on May 22, 1956 with the rank of Private. Richie worked as a Truck Driver for over 25 years for United Liquors and was a proud retired member of Teamsters Union Local # 25. Richie enjoyed going to the gym at least 3 to 4 times a week and was a very passionate fitness guru. He also enjoyed martial arts, watching boxing and wrestling and excelled in jiu jitsu. He enjoyed his quiet space also where he would meditate and concentrate on his spirituality by always reading the "Good Book". Family was paramount in Richie's life and he cherished the many years he has had with his wife Catherine and then his 3 daughters and their families along with his extended family members.
Richie is the beloved husband of 63 years to Catherine L. (Canty) Kennedy. He is the devoted father of Lorraine Rawlinson and her husband Walter, Patricia Papineau and her husband Frank and Donna Kennedy. He is the loving Grampy to Monica Grover and her husband Chris and W. Richard K. Rawlinson and his wife Andrea and also great-Grampy and GooGoo to Lucas Grover, Gracelynn Grover and Rayden Rawlinson. He is the beloved brother of Leo Kennedy and the late John J. Kennedy Jr., Florence Bowers, Lorraine Trickett, Robert Kennedy and Charles Kennedy. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richie's Funeral Service on Monday morning, March 13, 2023 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
