Woburn Frieda L. Wells, 85, of Tewksbury, formerly of Woburn, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the widow of James Wells who passed away in 2014 at 28 years of marriage, and she was formerly the wife of the late Alfred H. Stewart.
She was born on February 25, 1938, in Gimbsheim, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Otto and the late Margaret (Reinhard) Lauth. She came to the United States in 1953, initially settling in Lexington, MA. Frieda and her husband, Alfred, married in 1957 and later settled in Woburn to raise their family.
In 1986, Frieda married James Wells. For many years she volunteered at Bedford Veteran's Affairs, where she received an award for her service to disabled veterans. She loved arts and crafts, antiquing, and watching all kinds of sports. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Frieda and her husband, James, loved to travel, camping in Winter Harbor, ME, and during the winter they would be found in Florida. She also had a special place in her heart for her numerous pets over the years.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael Stewart and his wife Paula of Tewksbury, Eric Stewart and his wife Gail of Falmouth, and Kevin Stewart and his wife Loren of Tewksbury. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Tyler Stewart and his wife Amanda of High Falls, NY, Kyle Stewart and his wife Sydney of Tewksbury, Breanna McDermott and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, Emily Melanson and her husband Joshua of Killeen, TX, Hala Stewart of Falmouth, Eric M. Stewart and his wife Ariel of Falmouth, Thomas Stewart and his wife Samantha of Grandby, CT, Lola Stewart and Luke Stewart both of Tewksbury, as well as her six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Annelie Flynn.
All are welcome to attend her committal service on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:15 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Connery Avenue Bourne, MA 02532.
