Bernadette A. (Barrette) Hogan, 83, of Worcester passed away at March 7th at home surrounded by her family. She leaves her loving husband of 62 years, Kenneth Hogan; two sons, James Hogan and his wife, Nancy, of Gardener and Kevin Hogan and his wife, Setsuko, of Chula Vista, CA; two daughters, Kathleen Cherry and her husband Donald, Jr. of Leicester and Maureen Raillo and her husband, Douglas, of Rochdale; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers; Leo, Raymond, Ovide, and William; and five sisters, Rita Kralik, Cecile Ledoux, Jeanette Andrzejewski, Theresa Correia, and Dorilda Albetski.
She was born in Webster the daughter of Alfred and Victorine (Deslauriers) Barrette. Bernadette graduated from Bartlett High School and attended Salter College. She owned and operated Worcester Airport Limousine with her husband, Ken and her son, James for 41 years. Not only did she own the business, Bernadette handled the bookkeeping and played a vital role alongside her daughter, Maureen and daughter-in-law, Nancy. Bernadette was a natural caregiver as she volunteered at VNA Hospice and UMass for 27 years, was a chaplain at Fairlawn Hospital, and would conduct prayer services to shut ins. She was very involved with her faith and community. She was a Eucharistic minister and on many committees at the now closed St. Charles Church on June Street. Aside from being nurturing and helping others, Bernadette enjoyed reading, baking, cross stitching, photography, attending musicals, playing the piano, trips to the casino with Ken and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 10th at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street. A calling hour will take place at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue on Friday, March 10th from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
