SEBAGO, ME/ANDOVER, MA- Eugene A. Usher, age 87, passed away on Feb. 24, 2023, in Lawrence, MA.
He was born on March 16, 1935, to the late Charles F. and Isabelle (Gray) Usher of Sebago, Maine. He has one sister- Elizabeth Rosenberger and a brother- Gerald Usher who is now deceased.
He attended schools in Sebago and graduated high school from Potter Academy in Sebago in 1953. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1954 where he was trained on aircraft maintenance. He was discharged in December of 1958. He continued his education by graduating from East Coast Aero Technical School in Bedford, MA. He worked for Pratt and Whitney in CT for a short period of time. On Aug. 6, 1960, he married Elvira Lewis of Sebago. Not long after that they moved to New York where he went on to work for American Airlines at JFK Airport in NY. He loved doing aircraft maintenance and missed both the work and his fellow co-workers when he retired. Eugene finished out his working years at Boston – Logan Airport with American Airlines.
Eugene loved to fish and was a successful deer hunter. He became a good water skier and loved boating on their pond.
Eugene was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Sebago and later joined the Andover Baptist Church in Andover, MA.
Eugene and Elvira had one son- Jonathan Lewis Usher which was a blessing and added many years of happiness and joy to their lives.
After graduating from college, Jon married Lisa Jeffries who had a little a little boy named Darren. Together they had Shannon, twins- Tegan and Dawson, and last but not least- Brendan. Darren now has a son- Desmond.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 8, from 1 – 2 PM, followed by a 2 Pm funeral service at the Sebago Center Community Church, 415 Bridgton Road, Sebago. Burial will be in the spring at Convene Cemetery in Sebago.
