Frances “Fran” Brodie, 82, of Whitman, MA died peacefully at South Shore Hospital on March 2 after a long illness.
She was born in Quincy, MA to Frank and Mary Zablosky and was the older sister of William “Bill” Zablosky, all deceased.
In her early career, she worked at Bethlehem Steel (Quincy), Sylvania Electric (Needham), and when she moved to Whitman, she worked at Harding Print. Later she worked at the Holy Ghost Church CCD Program and for many years, was a pre-school teacher at A Child’s Place (Whitman).
She was also active in the community in Girl Scouts, the Women’s Club, the Garden Club, and in the Holy Ghost Church CCD Program and The Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, quilting, and crafts.
She was a great mother to her daughter Mary Brodie of Texas and a faithful wife of 53 years to Paul Brodie. She will be missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday March 9 from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral services on Friday March 10 at 9:45 AM from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Masks are required during visiting hours and for the funeral; they will be provided.
