Janet W. Tierney (Wahnquist) of Canton passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Haven, CT, Janet was raised in Manchester, CT and graduated from Manchester High School and Forsythe Dental School in Boston. She is preceded in death by her parents Harvey L. Wahnquist and Margaret H. Wahnquist.
Beloved wife of Dr. Richard N. Tierney. Mother of Elizabeth Kenyon and her husband Robert of Foxboro and FL, Kristine Tierney of Dayton, KY, Allison Tierney and her fiancé Stephen Sampson of Lynnfield and AZ, Karoline Walsh and her husband William of Canton, and Adrienne Tierney and her partner Scott Redquest of FL. Grandmother of Olivia Kenyon, Colin and Markus Dennison, and Emily and Michael Walsh. Sister of Harvey L. Wahnquist Jr. and Cynthia Gonzalez both of CT.
Janet was a devoted wife and mother and actively involved in her daughters’ activities whether it was leading a Girl Scout Troop, cheering from the sidelines of an athletic event or trailering horses to a horse show. She doted on her grandchildren and cherished the moments sitting in conversation with them. Janet enjoyed entertaining friends and family and her macaroni and cheese was always the hit of any party. While juggling the crazy schedules of her five girls, she still managed to work for several years as the Office Manager for her husband’s Dental Practice in Canton. Janet enjoyed bowling, sewing, traveling, preparing unique dishes and had a love for nature and animals. She has lived in Salisbury since moving from Canton in 2016 where she was a member of the TideWater Book Club and Wine Club.
She will always be remembered for her unique gifts with special meanings and an extra personal touch.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at the Faith Baptist Church in Stoughton Thursday March 9th at 11:00 am. Burial private.
