Theatus Weaver Johnson, 96, of Tifton passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2023, at her home. Her family is grateful for the legacy of faith, family and fun that she left behind.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Greg Love officiating. Mrs. Johnson will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home
for Funerals.
Monty Sirmans, Vann Jones, Jack Griffin, Larry Weaver, Roger Weaver, David Ellis, Larry Johnson and Carroll Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 18, 1926, in Irwin County, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Marion M. Weaver and Eva Walker Weaver. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hugh Johnson, Sr., to whom she married in 1946 and was married for 50 years before his death in 1996; her son-in-law, Mack Sirmans; two brothers, Marion M. Weaver, Jr. and Amos Weaver; and two sisters, Virginia W. Griffin and Myrtle W. Ross. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of Second Baptist Church in Tifton. She loved the Lord, her family, her country and the southern farmland.
She was affectionately known as “Granny” and was devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She loved her family and cherished her time with them. She loved working in the yards, fishing and having family fish fry’s at the Farm Pond House. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed but not forgotten. There will be an empty place in our lives, but not in our hearts.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Carl H. Jr. and Mary Johnson of Tifton; one daughter, Marion Sirmans of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Jean Weaver of Tifton; two grandchildren and their spouses, Monty Sirmans of Dawsonville and Carla and Vann Jones of Tifton; and three great- grandchildren, Vivi Kate Sirmans, Mary Wynn Jones and Eva Jones.
