Regina M. Tierney, 80

Regina M. (Barrett) Tierney, age 80, of Norton, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Tierney, who died on March 14, 1997.

Born in Attleboro, MA on September 7, 1942, she was a loving daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Coyle) Barrett.

Regina grew up in Attleboro and was a 1960 graduate of Attleboro High School. She had made her home in Norton for over fifty years and prior to retiring, worked for many years in the banking industry.

Regina’s family and lifelong friends were by far the essence and focal point of her life. She was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and a very talented artist. Regina was an avid reader and also enjoyed shopping, dining out, dancing and always had a special love for music.

She was the devoted mother of Patricia A. Pierce and her husband James C. of Norton, Terri K. Sproul and her husband Steven M. of Norton and the late Michael J. Tierney. She was the cherished grandmother of Amanda R. Pierce of Norton and Casey L. Ball of Norton. She was the dear sister of Catherine Desautel of Florida, Maureen Frank and her husband Thomas of Idaho and the late Richard “Dick” Barrett, who is survived by his wife Judy and the late Bernard “Bernie” Barrett, who is survived by his wife Evelyn. She was the longtime partner of Martin “Marty” McCann of South Attleboro and is also survived by her best four-legged friend “Molly”, as well as her loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, March 7th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
