Obituary

Worcester-Vitty J. Kondrotas, 81, of 485 Grove Street, formerly of 6 Elmer Street, died Friday, August 9th in Knollwood Nursing Center after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Ellen B. (Kahelin) Kondrotas; a brother, Joseph Kondrotas of Worcester; two sisters, Genevieve Dombeck of Gardner and Rita Sargut of Worcester; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers Frank and Alphonse Kondrotas and a sister Anna Volent. He was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph and Anna (Milkevich) Kondrotas and was a graduate of St. Casmirs Academy of Sacred Heart, Worcester Junior College, Wagner School of Art Design in Boston and Cornell University. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Kondrotas was a civil engineer for the Bureau of Water in the City of Worcester for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, past president of its Holy Name Society, life member and former secretary and treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans, post 341, 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, post # 88, the Veteran Council, post 34, Massachusetts Retirees Association, Board of Trustees for AARP, Bancroft Chapter, former president of the Thursday Afternoon Club and the Catholic Men’s Bowling League.

The funeral services and burial will be private at the request of the family. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester will be handling the arrangements. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
