Rupert Alexander
Rupert ‘Rupie’ Alexander, son of Gloria Alexander and the late Leanda Alexander was born on August 15, 1952, in Sterling St. Ann, Jamaica. He was the first son born to his parents, among 13 siblings.
Rupert attended the Cobbla Youth Camp in Manchester, Jamaica to pursue a trade in welding and was determined to use this new knowledge and new career to his best advantage.
As an apprentice Welder, he moved to Kingston with great enthusiasm and tenacity, where he earned himself a successful career as a department supervisor at Kingston Industrial Works (KIW) where he remained for almost 20 years. During this period of his life, he was married with an endearing family that produced three children.
Rupert was also an active member of the Jamaica Defence Force - Army National Reserve for several years until he immigrated to the United States.
Always in pursuit of greatness, he relocated to the United States and gained employment at Carando Foods for several years. Rupert started a new family and shares a son with his wife Yvette.
He was an avid and very proud gardener, often tending to his famous tomatoes and herb plants. Each summer, he delighted in planting and harvesting for his family and bragged about his well sought-after Red Peas soup with ingredients gathered from his garden.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children; Karene, Sheryl, Oneil and Omar; his grand-children Alyssa, Xavi, Tyler, son-in-law’s Kurt and Richie, his mother Gloria, his brothers and sisters and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
