Judith A. Humphreys
Former Assistant at Raymond & Garland Florist
TEWKSBURY: Judith A. (Fanning) Humphreys, age 79, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, passed away with her family by her side, at Lowell General Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of Herbert P. Humphreys, her best friend for 66 years, and with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 2, 2022.
Born in Newton on July 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Francis Fanning and the late Dorothea (O’Toole) Sheehan.
Judy was raised in Newton, attended Mt. Alvernia Parochial school and graduated from Our Lady’s Parochial High School.
Following her wedding, Judy dedicated her life to her family. There was nothing more important to her than her husband and raising their two children. Judy also enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling with her husband, with their favorite being cruises to Bermuda, and hosting family dinners and many pool parties throughout the years.
Judy was employed at the former Digital Corporation in Tewksbury, and following its closure, she worked at the former Raymond & Garland Florist in Tewksbury for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, William P. Humphreys and his wife Karla (Powers), of Pelham, NH, and Lori Swissler and her husband T.J., of Billerica; three grandchildren, Arielle Chupka and her husband Zachary, Madeline Humphreys and Connor Humphreys, all of Pelham, NH. Throughout her life, Judy shared a very close bond with her sister, the late Joanne M. Connolly and her husband Robert, of Bellingham, and leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Judy also cherished her many friendships and wouldn’t go a day without “keeping in touch”.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 12th, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by prayers and family remembrances to be offered at the funeral home.
