CHICOPEE – Therese M. (Perreault) Blanchard, known to many as “Terry”, “Theresa” or “Memere”, 93, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Ferry Street in the Ferry Lane section of Chicopee on November 4, 1929, the beloved daughter of the late Rolland A. and Elodia M. (Auger) Perreault. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from the former Mount Carmel Elementary School in Chicopee and Rosary High School in Holyoke, and had lived in Chicopee her entire life. She was employed as a cafeteria worker for 28 years with Chicopee Public Schools and retired in 1992. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed getting dressed up and going out, loved music and played the accordion, loved cooking and always had the best jokes to share. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Robert P. Blanchard who was Called Home on April 19, 2016. They were married on October 24, 1953 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 62 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving grandchildren, Matthew J. Blanchard of Chicopee and Melissa A. Russell and her husband, Bryan, of South Hadley; her four cherished great grandchildren, Devin, Kylie, Jayden and Reid; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Blanchard and Perreault families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Gerard L. “Gerry” Blanchard who was Called Home on July 7, 2013 and her dear brother, Roger Perreault. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
