DARTMOUTH … Richard W. “Scooter” Morris, 84 years, a resident of North Dartmouth passed away on February 23, 2023 after a long battle with cancer while surrounded by his family and friends.
Scooter was born in New Bedford on October 17, 1938; he was the son of the late Frank and Hilda (Rodrigues) Morris and was a resident of North Dartmouth since 1979.
Scooter was a salesman for many years and the owner of Scooter’s Bar and Matt Neils Bar in New Bedford. Scooter was a member of the St. Julie Billiart Parish of North Dartmouth. He loved vacationing with his wife, Stefanie and his children and could often be found at his North Woodstock, NH condo in the winters and Longboat Key, FL and Aruba in the fall. Scooter excelled in several sports and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for football at the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School where he graduated. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and a season ticket holder for over 25 years. Scooter took pride in his 5 Perfect Hands of Cribbage and had them framed and hung in his office for show. With a glass of wine and a cigar in hand, he would make anyone laugh while singing Friends in Low Places or for telling one of his many funny jokes.
Scooter was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Morris and his sisters’ Sharon Costa, Frances Lopes and Donna Morris.
He is survived by his loving wife Stefanie (Varano) Morris; his son Tad Morris of Terra Ceia, FL, 3 daughters, Kerry Calnan and her husband Michael of New Bedford; Melody A.
