Obituary

PORTER- William Pinkham passed away at his home in Porter, ME on Feb. 24, 2023, with his
family at his side.
On July 7, 1952, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Pinkham of Standish, headed to the Osteopathic hospital in
Portland for the expected arrival of twins. Hours later, those twins had arrived, plus two more
babies, three girls and a boy. There was also a 9 yr. old daughter, Roxanne at home. From then on, they
were known as the Pinkham Quads. Bill, Melissa, Jane and Rebecca.
The quads birth was headline news, over the years there were numerous newspaper articles
about them. The April 1963 issue of Life magazine featured the quads, they were not on the
cover, as that was reserved for Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Bill and his sisters went to local schools and were 1970 graduates of Bonny Eagle High School.
In Nov. of 1970, Bill joined the Air Force, he served in many places around the world, including
Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was a survival specialist and served until May of 1996. Bill lived
and worked in Florida for the next 20 years. He moved back to Maine in 2015.
Among Bill's favorite things to do, were woodworking, listening to heavy metal and rock music,
jigsaw puzzles and word games. Bill was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for family and
friends. His sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Silas Pinkham, and a niece Katie Green.
He is survived by his wife, Holly Rowe Pinkham, incidentally, Bill and Holly were born just 4 days apart
in the same hospital; two daughters, Jessica Pinkham of Milford, Delaware and Jennifer Heward
of Nazareth, Pennsylvania; a stepson; John Brooks and his fiance, Heather Ireland of Porter; a
stepdaughter, Tina Rea and her husband Roy of Buxton. He is also survived by his sisters, Melissa
Flynn of Westbrook, Rebecca Yahm of Venice, Florida, Jane Palmer of Standish and Roxanne Shaw
of Inglewood, Florida. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service with military honors will be held March 18, at 1:00 pm at the North Congregational
Church, 22 Church Hill Road in Buxton (Groveville) with Pastor Cathy Genthner.
