Michael was a larger than life personality. With bright blue eyes and an infectious smile, his enthusiasm, passion, and wit were captivating and remembered fondly by his close family and friends. An avid Boston sports fan and proud father, Michael was a devoted coach of his children’s many teams. He loved playing golf with his family and friends at Charles River Country Club and Jupiter Hills Club. Above all, he was happiest “at the lake”. Michael was at peace boating and swimming in Lake Winnipesaukee’s beautiful waters. You could find him in the early hours of a summer morning with a cup of tea, a dixie cup of freshly picked blueberries, and a fishing pole. In the winter months, he’d head to Pittsburg, NH, put a pot of his “sportsman’s” chowder on the stove, hit the snowmobile trails, and skate across the frozen lakes.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Michael’s life at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. Needham, on Friday, March 10th from 4 to 7 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 1180 Greendale Ave. Needham on Saturday, March 11th at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
