PORTER- Margaret (Peggy) Libby (94) passed away peacefully on 02/25/2023 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a brief illness with family by her side. Peggy will be remembered as a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend who kept her feisty attitude until the end.
Born in Portland in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Guimont and Evelyn and Guy Wentworth. Peggy lived in Porter, Maine for 84 years and graduated from Porter High in 1945. She married Harrison Libby Jr on July 6th, 1946, and they had 4 children. She worked at General Electric and the Cornish Dress Shop for many years but loved taking care of the neighborhood kids the most.
Peggy loved playing bingo and could always be found with a crossword puzzle in her hand. She saved every card she ever received and could talk on the phone for hours. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy were her favorite shows and she loved every Shirley Temple movie. Portland Head Light held a special place in her heart, and summer wasn’t complete without trips to the Clambake Seafood Restaurant and Two Lights State Park.
Peggy is predeceased by her husband Harrison and daughters Linda Libby and Ellie Frost. She is survived by her sons - Rick Libby and wife Jeanna of Porter; Jeff Libby and wife Holly also of Porter; grandchildren - Melynda Wilhemi and husband Josh, Chaun Frost, Brandi Libby, Todd Libby and wife Natasha, Sara Schroeder and husband Eric, Jessica Libby; and great-grandchildren - Adrien Peters, Chance Frost, Colton Libby and Everleigh Libby.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Central Maine Medical Center and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for all that they did during her illness, Dr. Joseph deKay and Dr. Gene Royer for their care, and all those who sent their well wishes and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ellie Frost Memorial Scholarship at the Sacopee Valley Superintendent's Office
