Obituary

CHICOPEE – Laurie A. (Davitt) Mozeleski, 61, a longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 24, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving husband and family. She was born in Holyoke on November 30, 1961, a beloved daughter of the late Stephen J. Davitt, Sr. and Dorothy A. (Foisy) Davitt. She was raised and educated in Chicopee where she lived her entire life. She was last employed as a real estate agent for Kathy Paul Real Estate and was previously employed for 25 years as a manager for Verizon in Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Chicopee and was currently a communicant at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Laurie loved to cook and entertain for her family and friends. She also enjoyed her many trips to New York City to catch a Broadway show and to see the Radio City Rockettes, family outings to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox, as well as attend many concerts. She also loved her family vacations. Most of all, she loved spending her time with her family, friends, and especially her cherished grandsons. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Gary R. Mozeleski. They were married on March 27, 1980 in Springfield and they were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Joshua A. Mozeleski and his wife, Hope, Stephen M. Mozeleski and his wife, Rebecca, and Melissa M. Mozeleski, all of Chicopee; her two cherished grandsons, Van and Calvin; her two dear brothers, Stephen J. Davitt, Jr. and his wife, Karen Garner-Davitt, of Collierville, TN and Matthew O. Davitt of Jamestown, RI; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, James T. “Jimmy” Davitt. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
