Joseph A. Castronova 78, of Brockton, died unexpectedly on February 20, 2023 surrounded by his family at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Alfred and Antonette (DeAngelico) Castronova. He was raised in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. Joe worked as an iron worker and had been employed at Bethlehem Steel and retired from General Dynamics. He was a longtime member of Local 7.
Family and friends will remember Joe as quite the character with a larger than life personality. He loved to talk, reminisce, tell stories and just have a good laugh with all. He was a car, truck and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed building, driving and repairing them. He was also very talented in woodworking and handmade leather projects. His all-time favorite would be cooking and eating Italian food at family gatherings.
Joe is survived by his children Michelle Langton and her husband Jason of Middleboro, Marie Castronova and her fiancé Mark Maldonado of Brockton and Lenny Castronova and his wife Danielle of Thornton, NH. He was the grandfather of Sophia and Aidan Avrin and Dominic and Ilanna Langton. He was the brother of Marilyn Sullivan of Gloucester, Alfred Castronova, Jr. of Newburyport, Linda Castronova-Nelson and her husband Steve of Middleboro and the late Leonard Castronova.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Saturday, March 11, from 12:00-2:30pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:30pm.
