Obituary

Joseph D. Caristi, 89, of Plaistow, NH died on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in his home with family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1933 in Boston, MA, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ball) Caristi. He had been a resident of Plaistow for the past 25 years, formerly living in Hampstead, NH and the Middlesex County region of MA. He was a US Army veteran serving as a military police officer during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his long career, Joe took pride in being self employed, working into his 70s installing hardwood floors primarily in the Merrimack Valley, MA and Southern NH regions.

Everything Joe did, he did for his family, with whom he loved spending his time. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and cared deeply about global affairs and the state of the world in which he and his family lived. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Flood and her husband Paul of Londonderry, NH; his son Robert Caristi and his wife Dorothy of Bristol, NH; five grandchildren, Ann Marie, Robert, Joseph, Cristi, and Spenser; three great grandchildren; his sister Elaine Walker of Rockland, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Ruth (Robbins) Caristi in 1992; his son Raymond Caristi; and his grandson David Caristi.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 2nd from 3 - 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 3rd at 11am in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Shriners Burn Center, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114; or an animal rescue center of your choosing.
