Obituary

MILLER, Edith Louise (Jennings) 85, of Dedham, MA, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 8, 2023. She was born in Pawtucket, RI on November 29, 1937 to the late Clarence and Minnetta (Taylor) Jennings. She was preceded in death by her older sister Clare Davidson. A graduate of Pawtucket High School in Pawtucket, RI. She went on to graduate nursing school from Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. After graduating nursing school, she joined the Air Force as an active duty nurse in 1960 as the rank of Captain and retired in 1978 from the reserves. Edith's nursing career spanned 47 years working at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY, Syracuse University Hospital, South Shore Hospital in MA, Norwood Retirement Nursing Home in MA and the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, MA.

Edith is survived by her loving family, Kristen and Brian Drobnis, her daughter and son-in-law, Ryan Miller, her son, Freddie and Lori Miller, step-son and his wife, her grandchildren Keyana and Kayla Miller, her grand-grandson, Lukas Miller and her brother and his late wife, Russell and Pat Jennings, along with many nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and friends.

A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, MA on Saturday, Mar. 4 from 11:00am-12:30pm immediately followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at a later date.

A Celebration of Life will follow the funeral service at The Village Manor, 427 Sprague St., Dedham, MA.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Community Care in Newton, MA (gscommunitycare.org) or Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA (danafarber.jimmyfund.org).
