Obituary

Grigorios "Gregory" Apostolou, 88, of Worcester, died February 21st at the Christopher House. He was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Stamatia (Athanasiou) Apostolou and is survived by his daughter, Hariklia "Joy" Apostolou and her husband, George Kapodistrias of Reading; his brother Nikolaos Apostolou and his wife, Virginia of Athens, Greece; his two grandchildren, Jason and Christina Kapodistrias and his second wife, Danae Natsis and several cousins.

He was born in Konitsa, Greece the son of Iraklis and Hariklia (Porfiriou) Apostolou and came to Worcester in 1970 after spending 20 years in Athens. Greg had worked as a tailor, and last managed the alteration department at Macy's in Natick and later in Marlborough before retiring; and had previously worked for Jordan Marsh. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the parish Senior's Group and the Epirotic Society of Worcester. His pastimes included fishing and gardening as well as return trips to Greece, however his greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Monday, February 27th in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the Cathedral on Monday.
