With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Beverly Bongiovanni, who passed away on February 11th, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous six-month battle with IV pancreatic cancer. Beverly, affectionately known as Bev, was a vibrant and youthful 68-year-old who lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of love.
Beverly was born in Washburn, ME, and moved to Woonsocket in her youth. As an adult, she built communities in both Coventry and South County, embodying the spirit of Rhode Island. She is preceded in death by her late parents, Rene and Theresa Messier, and beloved brother James Pelletier. Bev held her faith, family, and friends close to her heart throughout her journey, and her love for them was evident to all who knew her.
Bev is survived by her daughters Tracy Carlson and Hannah Bongiovanni, son-in-law Andy Carlson, grandchildren Emma and Jakob Carlson, sister Bambi and husband Frank Dunton, father-in-law Kenneth Figgins, sister-in-law Tracy and her husband Doug Fisher, brother-in-law David Figgins and his life partner Selena Millard, soul sister Tami Laroche, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her passing is a great loss to her family, friends, and colleagues.
Bev was a dedicated CHAPS-certified nursing assistant with Hope Health Hospice for nearly 20 years. She worked tirelessly pursuing her passion and ensuring that every patient received the highest level of care. Bev's legacy will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside her and the countless patients whose lives she touched. She will always be remembered as an exceptional caregiver and an invaluable member of the Hope Health Hospice team.
In addition to being a compassionate caregiver to her patients, Bev was also known for her selflessness and willingness to help those she loved. She consistently put the needs of others before her own, always rising to the occasion to support her friends and family through any challenges they faced. She was a reliable source of strength for many who relied on her unwavering support.
