Anthony Silva, 82, of Dartmouth passed away suddenly on Sunday February 19, 2023. He was the husband of Edith L. (Mills) Silva.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Simas) Silva, he lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Dartmouth in 1998.
Anthony was formerly employed as a police officer for the New Bedford Police Department until his retirement in 2002.
In his retirement, he enjoyed tending to his garden, providing many vegetables to share with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; four children, Brett Silva and his wife Kelly, Robyn Eusebio and her husband Shawn, Edith Majewski and her husband Dale, and Eric Silva and his wife Melissa; his sister, Marie Wetzel and her husband Herbert; five grandchildren, Kayla Blake and her husband Kruce, Amber Eusebio, Alexis Eusebio, Jenna Rose, and Jared Silva; and his special niece, Morgan Bernardo; and other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Anthony Silva II.
In accordance with his wishes, his remains were received by Harvard Medical School for anatomical research. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth at a later date.
