In Fairhaven, Theodore William “Ted “Benjamin, age 86, son of the late Charles and Anna (Plata) Benjamin, passed away at the Royal of Fairhaven on February 19, 2023 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Theodore leaves his devoted wife of 54 years Nancy (Laurent) Benjamin of Taunton; daughter Cheryl Benjamin-Dias, son-in-law Paul Dias, grandchildren Alex and Emily Dias, sister Mary “Mae” Walker & predeased siblings George Benjamin, Charles Benjamin Jr., Lorraine Poole, Charlotte Johnson & Cecelia Perra
Born and educated in Taunton and a graduate of Taunton High School, class of 1955. Ted served several years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Iceland. Ted was a tool maker by trade for many years at Coppercraft Guild & Swank in Taunton. He later worked at Benjamin’s Restaurant for many years as an operations plant manager. While working at the restaurant Ted developed friendships with many and enjoyed the daily coffee break in the lounge. Ted enjoyed golfing, working out at the YMCA, walking the beach and the backyard cookouts. Once retired, Ted enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his two favorites Alex and Emily. They were his heart & soul and had a special bond like no other. Ted enjoyed vacationing with his family wherever the sun was shining! The endless trips to Disney, Universal, Mexico & the Dominican were some of his favorites.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Royal Fairhaven, you treated Ted like family with care and compassion every day. Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Tuesday, February 28th from 9:30-11 am. A funeral home service will be at 11 am. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
