CHICOPEE – Paul R. Lajeunesse, 81, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on December 20, 1941, a beloved son of the late Ernest R. Lajeunesse and Cecile A. Paul. He was raised in Chicopee where he was educated at Saint Joan of Arc School, Lambert-Lavoie School, and Chicopee Trade School. He was a machinist for over 40 years at Koegel’s Machine Shop in Holyoke and retired in 2003. Active in his Catholic faith, he was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and the Laurier Club in Chicopee Falls. Paul loved watching football and baseball and attending games, trying his luck at Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, and MGM, and playing pitch with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his cooking and baking, especially his beautiful pastries and deep dish pizza that everyone craved. Above all, he was a wonderful person with a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He leaves his devoted brother, Dennis J. Lajeunesse and his wife, Darlene, of Chicopee; his loving sister, Constance Lafleur of Chicopee; his dear “brother”, Norman Avey and his wife, Monique, of Chicopee; his two cherished nieces, Danielle M. Jimmo and her husband, George, and their daughter, Lily, all of Chicopee, and Dominique L. DiSantis and her husband, Anthony, and their children, Brielle and Anthony II, all of Springfield; his dear uncle, Roger A. Paul of Chicopee; his dear aunt, Theresa E. Paul of Chicopee; and his many dear cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear uncle, Robert N. Paul who was Called Home on December 4, 2022. His family would like to thank the Chicopee Police Department and the Chicopee Fire Department for their professionalism and comfort. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to his Mass.
