Esperanza Martinez, age 85, of Cambridge, formerly of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, passed away on February 19, 2023. Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Monday February 27 from 5-7 PM. Her family will gather again at the funeral home on Tuesday February 28 from 10 -11 am. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Esperanza Martinez was born January 26, 1938 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. She passed from a brief illness on February 19 th, 2023 in her Cambridge home. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born to Castora and Gregorio Martinez, she was one of eight loving children. Esperanza was a caring and wonderful sister, and a devoted aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She never married nor did she have children, but she helped to raise her nephew, Angel Morales, who is disabled. Esperanza lived her whole life deaf and mute. She was unable to speak or hear, but when she gave you a hug you knew it and felt loved. She was an amazing artist and was very talented and creative in arts and crafts. Esperanza loved painting, coloring, knitting, sewing, and making beaded jewelry. Anything that sparkled got her attention. She enjoyed playing Dominoes and loved her iPad. Esperanza attended Deaf Inc. and the Somerville Adult Daycare for many years. She will truly be missed by all.
