Nancy Ann Twomey-Salamon (Parker), of Raynham, MA, passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, on February 16 at the age of 78, after a long battle with Vascular Dementia. Nancy was born in Fall River, MA,. Raised in Raynham, she attended high school at St. Mary’s in Taunton, graduated college from Boston State College, now known as, University of Massachusetts Boston, and received her Master of Education from Lesley College.
Nancy moved back to Raynham in 1975 and settled in “Pleasantfield,” where she raised her daughter as a single mom and lived in the same house ever since. Nancy taught in the Raynham school system as a teacher for over 35 years until her retirement in 2005. Throughout her adult life, she volunteered her time to the Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Pennies from Heaven Thrift Store in Taunton. She became an Assistant Softball coach for the Raynham Astros, while her daughter played for the Raynham Softball Little League.
Nancy brightened every room and was loved by all that knew her. Her most treasured passion was gardening. She loved being outdoors, tending to her flowers and yard and always had a rake in her hand, willing to help her neighbors weed, rake, or plant flowers. Nancy was also an avid animal lover, having saved several strays throughout her life. She had passion for the theater and the arts, attending dozens of Broadway shows in Boston and museum exhibits with her daughter. Nancy also enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean, but Bermuda was the spot she and her late husband, Walter Salamon, would travel to the most.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Walter Salamon and her parents, Gladys B. (Shephard) and James H. Parker of Raynham.
Nancy is survived and deeply missed by her daughter, Kathleen Ploeger, and her husband, Trevor of Wareham; her sister, Mary Ellen (Parker), and her husband, Ronald Carter, of Wilmington, DE; a beloved Grandson, Jason Ploeger, of Wareham; Nephews, Marc Luise and Allen Carter; and Niece, Lorraine Carter Owens. Nancy is also survived by many loving cousins, adoring friends, and neighbors.
