James Carl “J.C.” McCurdy, 74, of Chula passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Mr. McCurdy will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Johnathan Redmon, Brian Castleberry, Brandon Shaner, Dakota Roberts, Rocky De La Paz and Randall Kegley will serve as pallbearers.
Born February 20, 1948, in Tift County, Mr. McCurdy was the son of the late Olen McCurdy and Lucille King McCurdy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bronis “Bonnie” Sue Davis McCurdy and one granddaughter, Jessica Bruner. He was retired and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. McCurdy is survived by one son, Samuel Creel of Ocilla; one daughter, Mandy Bruner of Chula; three grandchildren, Christian Bruner, Devae McCurdy and Katelynn McCurdy; and six great-grandchildren, Amiya Soto, Peighton McCurdy, Bentley McCurdy, Rayleigh Castleberry, Hunter Castleberry and Dalton Castleberry.
