Obituary

Frances Maureen (Kaveney) Dick, 90, of Franklin, MA passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2023 in the company of her beloved family. Maureen was predeceased by her husband, William Dick, her daughter Susan Dick, and sister Catherine Casey. Maureen is survived by her children Seanna Gretchen, Michele “Shelley” Dick, Francis Dick, William Dicksen and his wife Jing, Siobhan “Bonnie” Sullivan and her husband Thomas, Sheilah Johnson and her husband Francis, and her sister Madelyn “Pat” Kaveney. Maureen also leaves her grandchildren: John, Brett, Ryan, Rory, Thomas, Siobhan, Suzan, Kelsey, Timothy, Frank, William, Melody, Michaela, Matthew, and Caroline. However, if you knew Maureen, you would know all about her 25 great grandchildren whom she adored. Her family was her sole focus, and she worried over and took care of them until the end - even as she was being cared for. She was also blessed with the love and support of  her nieces and nephews.

Maureen was best known for her perseverance, strength, and wit. After the passing of her husband, Maureen embraced the challenges and adversities of raising seven children by herself. While she was a quiet woman, when she spoke it was with purpose and she would often catch people off guard with a quip that would leave you in stitches and wondering if she was teasing you or not.

Maureen grew up and began her family in Hyde Park, MA later moving to Franklin, MA where she spent over 30 years residing with her beloved daughter Bonnie. Maureen and Bonnie were inseparable and hosted nearly every holiday gathering together for three decades. They enjoyed their Friday shopping trips to Roche Brothers preparing for these gatherings and weekly shopping for the household.

She loved a small decaf coffee light with two sugars and a vanilla frosted donut from Dunkin Donuts. Most of all, she loved being able to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren just down the hall and cherished their frequent visits with “Nana D”.

It is well known to her family that Maureen loved butterflies which are seen as a symbol of growth and hope across the world. It’s no wonder that she was drawn to this symbol as she persevered through difficult times through growth, hope, and her faith.

“Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will evade you, but if you notice the other things around you, it will gently come and sit on your shoulder.” Henry David Thoreau
