Obituary

Harold Lamar Stephens, 99, of Ty Ty passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Mr. Stephens will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Sephus Willis, Roger Watson, Shannon Sledge, Frank Willis, Larry Sikes, John Crownover, Wayne Markham and Greg Crumley will serve as pallbearers.

Born November 19, 1923, in Worth County, Mr. Stephens was the son of the late Bob Stephens and Mary Lou Poole Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Sumner Pritchett Stephens and one son, Thomas Carroll Pritchett. Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Stephens’ Grocery, and he was a member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and fought in World War II.

Mr. Stephens is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Lee Pritchett and wife LeAnn of Tifton; one daughter, Gloria Pritchett Truelove and husband Bryan of Tifton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Tom and Laura Pritchett, Jesse and Emily Pritchett, Jennifer and Michael Zimmerman, Lindsay and Mark Prater, Rhett and Amber Pritchett, Ches Kendrick, Alisabeth Pritchett and Will Walton, Stephen Pritchett, and Maureen and Matthew Gault; six great-grandchildren; a cousin and very close friend, Larry Sikes; and a very good friend, Dean Esco.
