Obituary

Wade M. Pitcock, 94, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2023, at The Restoracy Senior Care Facility of Whitestown, Indiana, following a fourteen year battle with dementia.

Wade was born February 27, 1928, in Clay County Tennessee, the son of Bert and Ellie (Smith) Pitcock. Wade lived in Detroit, Michigan, from 1946 to 1951, and moved to Anderson in July of 1951. He attended Eastview Christian Church prior to locating to a skilled nursing facility in Carmel, Indiana, in 2016.

Wade worked production and was an elected Union Employee Representative at Delco Remy Anderson for thirty (30) years before retiring in 1981. Wade was honored to be a recipient of the Walter and Sophie Ruether Award (UAW 662) in recognition of his dedicated service and representation of his peers at Delco Remy. Wade was also well known by the nickname of “RED” as he served the community of Lapel, Indiana, for many years as a member of the Lapel Police Department. In addition to being a servant leader, Wade enjoyed family outings especially those that included food (desserts), fishing, and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

Wade was married to Evelyn F. (Fuller) Pitcock for 46 years before her passing in November 2015. He is survived by his children: Diane (Dana) Anderson of Brownsburg, IN; Brenda Flowers of Anderson, IN; Dan (Laura) Pitcock of Westfield, IN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Wade is also survived by stepchildren, Linda (Max) Wortman of Anderson; and Ralph (Vickie) Kabrich of Cross City, Florida. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and his son-in-law, Gary Flowers.

Services will be at 12:00 on Monday, February 20, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, located at 229 South Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN; officiated by Chad Dillon, Wade’s grandson-in-law. Open visitation for friends will be from 11:00-12:00 on Monday, February 20. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial contributions be made to your local food bank/pantry or the charity of your choosing.
