Obituary

BUXTON/SOUTH PORTLAND – Cynthia Santolucito passed peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Feb. 15, 2023.
Cindy was born in 1950 in Portland ME, to Ralph and Marilyn Skillings. Cindy grew up in South Portland, ME graduating from South Portland High School in 1968.

Cindy came in full communion with the Catholic Church in 1996 at St Thomas’s Church in Southington, CT where she served as Eucharistic Minister, member of the Choir and member of Small Christian Communities. Cindy met her future husband Dennis while working at Travelers Insurance. Cindy brought Dennis back to his faith and they were married in 2004 at St Peters Church in Portland Maine where Cindy was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Choir. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Biddeford serving as Vice Regent.

Cindy was an insurance underwriter for Maine Bonding and Casualty in Portland, ME and Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT for many years. She earned an Associate in Underwriting designation from the Insurance Institute of America. Upon retirement from the insurance industry Cindy followed her passion for helping people and became a CNA caring for the elderly.

Cindy enjoyed travelling for business and pleasure. One of her memorable trips was exploring the museums of Amsterdam and Paris with her husband.

Cindy leaves her much loved family, son Chris Davis of Tetonia, ID and daughter Heidi Davis of Old Saybrook, CT, her brother Ralph Skillings of Standish, ME sister Sue Lally of Caribou, ME and stepfather James Greenacre of Buxton, ME and husband Dennis. Cindy was predeceased by her mother Marilyn, father Ralph and brother James.

Cindy and her husband want to thank everyone at Compass Concierge and Companion Service for providing a safe and loving environment in her home during the past year. Beacon Hospice for their gentle and compassionate care of Cindy during the past several months.

Cindy and her husband express their deep gratitude to Richard and Cheri Culleton of Scarborough, ME and Robert and Annie Dexter of Buxton, ME for their support during Cindy’s Alzheimer’s/Dementia journey. These dear friends helped Cindy and her husband navigate the journey for several years with many dinners, outings, trips to the gym and support at their home.

Cindy and Dennis request that people love, support, embrace and pray for Alzheimer’s/Dementia patients, families and Caregivers.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday Feb. 27 from 4 - 7 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Feb. 28 at 10 AM at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., in Portland. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com
