After a period of failing health, Ronald “Ron” Tierney, age 76, of Hanover, formerly of Brockton, died February 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ron was the husband of Susan (Albanese) Tierney for 54 years. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late James F. and Mildred (Terry) Tierney. He was predeceased by his brothers, James, Robert, and David Tierney.
A 1964 graduate of Brockton High School, Ron attended Quincy Junior College and graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1968. His entire career was spent in the Brockton school system primarily at the Raymond Elementary School before he retired in 2004. Ron enjoyed teaching and truly cared for all of his students.
Ron loved playing tennis, birdwatching, following the Red Sox, and would never miss a Notre Dame football game. He always had a smile or a joke and was the life of every party. Most importantly, Ron cherished time spent with his family, his grandchildren, and his grand-dog Massimo.
Ron was the father of Scott Tierney and his wife Danielle of Foxboro, Ryan Tierney and his wife Colleen of Pembroke and Marissa Tierney and her husband Michael Bourne of Hanover. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Zachary, Chloe, Charlie, Violet, Luca and Scarlet.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton, on Sunday February 19, 2023 from 2-5 pm. His funeral service will be Monday at 11 am at the funeral home.
