Obituary

Roland A. Violette, 77, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Leon E. and Mary Rose (Angers) Violette, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Roland enjoyed photography, board games, riding his bike, and playing with his nieces and nephews. Roland completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in 1982 at Southeastern Massachusetts University now the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He had a lifelong pursuit of learning and always encouraged his nieces and nephews and their children to explore the world and advocate for others. He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam war.

Survivors include his brothers, Maurice Violette and his wife Barbara of New Bedford, and Robert Violette of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Paul Violette, Therese Fournier, and Jeannette Brenneke; and his sister-in-law Lucille A. Violette.

Roland's Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 21 at 9:30 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 121 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association at 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452
